What's happening
Mars takes roughly two years to complete one circuit of the zodiac, spending an average of six to seven weeks in each sign during direct motion. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Mars has no major traditional dignity or debility here, so Jupiter's expansive, philosophical, horizon-seeking nature sets the terms.
The drive points outward. The body wants distance, the mind wants meaning, and action becomes easier when it can be attached to a larger story. This is why the same transit can describe a literal trip, a legal fight, a publishing sprint, a training plan, or a conversion of anger into teaching.

Mars in Sagittarius is drive oriented toward expansion rather than acquisition. The effort is generous and sometimes reckless; Sagittarius pushes past ordinary caution in service of a larger vision.
Jupiter's sign gives Mars appetite for travel, teaching, preaching, publishing, sport, law, religion, philosophy, and the testing of limits. Mutable fire spreads quickly. It can carry a message across borders, move the body over long distances, and keep morale high when the work is difficult. This placement is often strongest when a campaign needs hope as much as force.
The tradition's heroic language needs care. Mars in Sagittarius can be crusading in the best sense: directed effort toward something worth defending, the willingness to go further than circumstances make strictly necessary because the cause demands it. But crusading easily becomes self-certainty. A person can mistake the feeling of conviction for proof that the action is wise.
The shadow is grandiosity and dispersal. Sagittarius at its most inflated believes it is pursuing the most important thing in the world; at its most scattered, it abandons each pursuit as soon as the next horizon appears.
How to work with it
Act from conviction, but make conviction accountable. This is good weather for the project that carries genuine meaning: study, travel, advocacy, athletic goals, teaching, writing, and the work that requires both force and belief to sustain.
Choose one quest. Mutable fire needs a container or it becomes sparks. Define the road, the deadline, the practice hours, the distance to cover, or the lesson to deliver. Then include a correction mechanism: a teacher, editor, map, rule, budget, or honest friend who can tell you when enthusiasm has outrun accuracy.
If anger appears, ask whether a belief has been challenged. Mars in Sagittarius often fights hardest where identity has fused with doctrine. Let the challenge refine the aim rather than merely inflame the sermon.
